What We Believe
About God
God is the eternal creator of the universe. He is Holy, all powerful, all knowing and present everywhere. He is eternally present in three persons: God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit (the Holy Trinity). The triune God created the heavens and earth and everything in them. He is totally sovereign over His creation.
About Jesus Christ
Jesus is the eternal Son and incarnation of God the Father. He is the second person of the trinity and has always existed with the Father and the Holy spirit. All things were created through him and for him. Jesus became a human being without losing any of his deity. The incarnation was achieved through the virgin birth. Jesus lived a perfect, sinless life and was completely obedient to God the Father. He offered his life as a perfect sacrifice and substitution for the sins of human beings. He willingly died by being crucified on the cross to provide forgiveness of sins. By the Holy Spirits power, he was raised from the dead, therefore, demonstrating his power and authority over death. The crucified, risen and glorified Christ is the saviour of the world. Jesus will return to the earth to judge the living and the dead.
About the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is co-equal with the Father and the Son. He is first introduced in the Old Testament as ‘The Spirit of God’ and in the New Testament as ‘The Holy Spirit’ and ‘The Spirit of Christ’. After Jesus ascended back into heaven, he and the Father sent the Holy Spirit on the Day of Pentecost and he indwelled those who repented, trusted and believed in the name of Jesus. On the day of Pentecost, the Christian Church officially came into existence. Every true believer receives the Holy Spirit at conversion to Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit provides power for living, helps every believer understand spiritual truth and guides us in doing what is right. The Holy Spirit gives believers spiritual gift/s that are used for the benefit of the Lord’s Church. Christians should seek to live under the power and control of the Holy Spirit each and every day.
About the Bible
The 66 books of the Protestant Bible are the inspired Word of God and fully inerrant. The Bible is fully truthful in all that is written and in all that it teaches. The Bible is our supreme authority on all matters of life, living, faith and practice. It was written by human authors under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
About People
Human beings are made in the image and likeness of God and are the supreme focus of His creative work. All human life is important to God. God desires that all human beings come to repentance and true faith in Jesus Christ so that they may receive forgiveness of sin and life eternal. Although every human being displays evidence of their creator, all human beings possess a sinful nature and are in need of being redeemed. Sin is a deep-seated rebellion of human will against God. Sin taints even the good things that human beings do. Sin cuts us off eternally from God. From the moment sin became present in the world, every individual has been hopelessly lost and destined for an eternity separated from God in a place called hell.
About Salvation
Salvation is a free gift of God’s love, mercy and grace. Salvation comes only from the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ who lived a sinless and perfect life and who died on the cross for the forgiveness of sin and who rose from the dead in victory and power over death. Salvation is totally provided by the completed work of Jesus Christ and as a gift of God’s grace. It is the beginning now of everlasting life with God which will be ours throughout eternity.
About Eternity
All human beings have been created for eternity. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence. All people, both believers and unbelievers, will be raised bodily at a resurrection of the dead and will be judged by the Lord Jesus Christ and thereafter will dwell in either heaven or hell.
About Baptism & The Lord’s Supper
Baptism and the Lord’s supper are two ordinances given by the Lord Jesus Christ and should be observed and practiced by the Church for all time. Baptism involves the immersion of a believer in water after they have repented of their sins and confessed Jesus as their Lord and Saviour. The Lord’s supper is a memorial of the Lord Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross. It represents his broken body and shed blood. The Lord’s supper is also known as ‘communion’ and should be practiced regularly until his second coming. It symbolizes our need and reliance of Jesus and our co-union with him.
About Serving
Every Christian is a servant of Christ. All believers have been given at least one spiritual gift which is to be used to benefit the Church (AKA: Body of Christ). It is the responsibility of every Christian to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who have yet to profess faith in Jesus.
About Prayer
Prayer is a form of worship. Christians are called to be people who regularly pray. Prayer is our primary means of seeing God work in others' lives. We pray to demonstrate our faith in God.
About Worship
Worship is meant solely for the glory of God and is always directed towards God and our Lord Jesus Christ. Worship is expressed by the way we conduct our daily lives, through prayer, the reading and study of Scripture, through song and music, through acts of service and through giving (free will offerings to support the work of the Church and its ministries). Our lives are to be dedicated to the worship and service of God.
